Join our Clean Air Force: Be Part of the Solution!

About the Clean Air Force

The Clean Air Force is a volunteer program by the Permian Health Lung Institute that aims to involve residents in all areas of the Gambia where we have installed an air quality sensor to raise awareness about air pollution in their communities.

Why join the Clean Air Force Volunteer program

Air pollution is a leading global cause of death, claiming an estimated 7 million lives annually. It is classified by the World Health Organization (WHO) as one of the "big five" risk factors for Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs), alongside tobacco use, physical inactivity, harmful alcohol consumption, and unhealthy diets. In 2023, The Gambia was ranked 24th globally, and 8th in Africa in terms of measured air pollutant particulate matter (PM 2.5) concentration, with a reading of 28.5µg/m3 that is five times higher than the WHO's recommended target of 5µg/m3, highlighting the serious air pollution problem in the country. The Permian Health Lung Institute is looking for young committed individuals to join our team as CLEAN AIR FORCE volunteers!
